Full Time Mechanical-Project Engineer- Location Calgary-AB
Petra Engineers & Consultants is looking for full time Mechanical-Project Engineer to work on multiple medium sized projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing of mechanical, process, piping engineering deliverables.

- Review of design drawings such PFD’s, P&ID’s, Plot Plans, Piping General Arrangements, Equipment Layouts, Isometrics and System Isometric
- Prepare and Review RFQ, RFP, Technical Bid Evaluation, Vendor Drawings, Line Designation Table, Calculations, Equipment list, Valve list that adhere to Petra and client standards as well as applicable codes
- Review of drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness and consistency and ensure the quality and accuracy of Engineering deliverables.
- Work closely with Piping Design Drafting department to ensure efficient delivery of optimized piping arrangements
- Participate in internal and external 30/60/90 % model reviews.
- Field review of piping system installations, as-building piping systems as required
- Review and manage Client requirements and expectations.
- Ability to understand and interpret design drawings
- Bill of materials generation and Material take off
- Review specifications, codes, and vendor documentation
- Communication with vendors as required
- Contribute to project documentation including execution plans, manhour estimates, and scope of work
- Regular meetings with discipline managers and client to ensure all project requirements are being met.
- Effectively communicate the status of tasks, design changes and continuous improvement items to the team.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
- 3+ years of related work experience
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification or ability to obtain within one year.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Strong writing ability.
- Proficient in MS Office particularly in Word and Excel
- Willingness to work cooperatively in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
- Flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
